POSCO, LG Electronics to jointly build smart factory
POSCO Holdings Inc. and LG Electronics Inc. announced on Wednesday that they will collaborate to upgrade POSCO’s smart factory technology. The initiative will involve the integration of robotics, artificial intelligence (AI) and wireless communication technologies.
Under the agreement, both companies will jointly develop technology to conduct safety inspections and manage facilities in steel mills. This initiative will employ autonomous robots integrated with AI, enabling operations in areas that are challenging for human accessibility.

Owl Ventures, a specialist in education technology investing, led the round, with participation from another new investor LG Technology Ventures. Venti Technologies Announces $28.8 Million Series A Funding to Automate Global Logistics and Industrial Hubs
Venti Technologies, a world leader in autonomous logistics for global supply chain and industrial hubs, today announced that it has secured $28.8 million in a Series A financing. The financing round was led by LG Technology Ventures, the Silicon Valley-based venture capital arm of the LG Group, with participation from Safar Partners, UOB Venture Management, and existing investors Alpha JWC and LDV Partners. The funding will be used to accelerate Venti’s growth and meet increasing demand from customers worldwide.
LG, Altair build AI-powered validation platform for automotive parts
LG Electronics Inc., an industry frontrunner in applying artificial intelligence to home appliances, said on Wednesday it has joined forces with Altair Engineering Inc., a US tech firm, in developing an AI-powered validation platform for automotive parts.
Integrating AI technology into the vehicle component development process will provide LG’s clients with more reliable and high-quality solutions for products, including infotainment systems, LG said. The South Korean electronics company said the new platform leverages a machine learning algorithm to accurately predict and measure product performance from an early stage of the design validation process.
LG Energy to invest $451 mn in mass production of Tesla’s 4680 battery cells
LG Energy Solution Ltd. announced Monday it will invest 580 billion won ($451 million) to manufacture battery cells for Austin-based Tesla, Inc. The battery-making arm of LG Corp. plans to add 9 gigawatt-hours (GWh) worth of production capacity for the new 4680 cylindrical batteries at its No. 2 Ochang factory. The battery maker also announced it would invest 150 billion won in the No. 1 Ochang factory to add 4 GWh worth of production capacity to manufacture the existing 2170 cylindrical battery cells. The 4680, expected to be mass produced next year, is composed of nickel, cobalt, manganese and aluminum (NCMA). The new battery has an increased nickel composition of up to 95% and added aluminum.
